Breakdown Cover

Interesting find (for me anyway) after the RAC refused to transport the Tuscan to TrackvRoad, not because they deemed the car undriveable (we did not get to that part) but because their T+Cs state recovering to a place no more than 10 mile from your current location.

This is not what I needed so started to look elsewhere, this morning I took out cover with the AA
Personal cover for me and SWMBO - covers us in any car
Recovery - to a single destination anywhere in the UK
At Home
Roadside Assistance
Parts and Labour Cover for the Tuscan - up to 5 claims of 500 per year as long as they do the recovery - only have to prove that car is maintained in accordance with manufacturers guidelines

295 for the full policy but there is 150 cashback from TopCashback - OK it takes approx 6 months to get the cashback but I now have better cover than I had with the RAC for less money

Covers the person not the car and spouse is free. Covers your motorcycles too.

We both use Start Rescue. I've used them twice 1x to recover me stranded on M1 then again to move car from my local garage to main dealer.

Just checked and its quoting me 74 - still good value but for an extra 70 I'm getting parts / labour cover - hopefully will not need it but giving it a go - like all insurance based products, expensive if I don't need it, cheap if I do

We are with the RAC, i'll check the small print but pretty sure they will recover you to a garage of your choosing or home, we are both members and pay 130 for a year, covers us in any car.

May have been a misunderstanding on the phone - never mind, switched now and after cashback only paying 25 more than you're paying including parts and labour on the Tuscan - its a minefield out there trying to work out what is best suited to your needs. The Parts and Labour element of my RAC cover is 116 but the cashback increases from 68 to 150 meaning the cover is only actually 34 - for 5 lots of 500 parts and labour its a complete no brainer

I've been with auto aid for yrs now. Used a couple of times with no problems. Great value as you say, spouse is covered too. Also cover my caravan too.

Steve, check RAC will also cover caravan- if not, Green flag will cover car and van with a very comprehensive plan (such as take your car to a garage and yourself/van onwards to your pitch/home and later deliver your car back to you?) For the same price or van and car for a basic 78 if you opt to just cancel holiday and return home. The 130 cover was designed for caravan club members so you may have to ring up to check.
Where I live there is only one recovery guy irrespective so I just went for the cheapest- until I discovered the van wasn't covered...

I think yuo fell into the trap I did. I get RAC standard cover with my bike insurance. Sure enough it only covers a 10 mile recovery.

Specifically you need the next level of cover from standard to advanced.

I've been using Green Flag for about 10 years.
To be fair, I've had a boringly reliable car for the last 3 so I could have stopped it.
I only got cover for when I had Peugeots
