Is Turtle Wax like Tesco Value?

I have a totally illogical outlook o TurtleWax TM that I am happy to be shot down for. I have no idea why I have this view but wanted to throw it open to the professionals amongst you.

My impression is that TurtleWax was one of the original waxes to come on the market back in the day, and that with the sudden rise of superior detailing that we have these days, other products are far more advanced and suited to the job. I would say most average people have heard of Turtlewax and I bet most weekend average joes have a bottle or pot if car clean / wax somewhere in their shed rusting away and barely used. TurtleWax is found on most supermarket aisles, it is basically "that product with a green turtle" that people know of.

In stark contrast you then have your plethora of highly regarded specialists like G Techniq / Bilt Hamber plus a billion others that only the detailing community know of, and you can only buy online for the most part.

Feel free to tell me I am talking rubbish, but this is my impression.

Turtle wax dry and shine is meant to be very good by all accounts, forensic detailing rates it nicely. I will try it at some point but i wont use anything other than wax planet shell shock if im spraying or autoglanz hydreseal if im lancing, both incredible products and so easy to use

The turtle wax will be one of those third options that is nice to use from time to time

Turtlewax products are perfectly fine. Their 'ICE' paste wax is awesome and as good as most I've used. I have some higher-end stuff, but I'd happily sort a car out top to tail with their products if I didn't have anything else.
I believe you do get a better result with other products, but I think only people on this site or professionals, would tell the difference.

Their recent products seem to do a reasonable job but I can remember some of their earlier products weren't that great...just like some products from the value range from some supermarkets.
Maybe people who only know their latest offerings will hold a good opinion but I can't shake off the memories of wasted money.

So maybe they have evolved into more quality products then, in order to compete with the new brands. Interesting.

I am using TurtleWax Carnauba at the moment, think it was like £15 maybe less, I feel like I am letting myself down, although the car does shine.

I think these days you can’t really go to wrong with their stuff.

Personally I think that's a very unfair analogy for Turtle Wax as they currently are as we all know that most Tesco Value products are intended to be bargain basement and low cost over actual value for money.

I'd rather compare them to IKEA, good products for a fair price, with some here and there that are substantially better than their price suggests (and conversely a few that are overpriced).
