help from Renault sport fans please

being offered 2009 Renault Clio Renaultsport 200 with 65k on at, what seems, a very reasonable price - just over half a dozen grand

with 3 cars already, 1 costing more in tax than miles I do, and the other residing in a mates workshop eating cash, im struggling to convince the wife its a good shout.

the cup has being part of a collection for 3 years and is mint. what's the value curve like on this version of the Clio sport?

6 on AT from 2009, some with less miles but circa 7k

What colour is it BTW and has it had the cam belt/water pump done?
I'd have thought so but something you need to check.

Still strongish money at £6k+ but I'm not sure it would be an investment opportunity if that's your train of thought?

Off the top of my head, The cam belt is the biggy, think its every 40k or 5 year, gearboxes can be problematic but think that was on the earlier 197, steering wheels degrade.i used to have a clio 172 then 172 cup, clean cups have shot up in price, hopefully same will happen with the 200s, they do seem to have settled at around the £5-7k, id say they will go up in price in the future

Key things from my past experiences with Renaultsports....
1. Has it had a recent cambelt/waterpump/dephaser pulley?
2. Has it got cup chassis? (This will be hugely important if you're looking at a potential investment or you want to track the car)
3. Colour is quite important on these (yellow or green) the optional spoiler is also very desirable

Hard to tell on the value of these RS Clios, certainly the 172 have bottomed right out and seem to be creeping up. I paid £500 for a slightly tatty but solid one back in 2012. But saw a Clio 172 Cup in rare Iceberg silver going for £6,500!

The Clio 200 being newer may drop for a little while but a mint low miler would gain more and more appeal.

In terms of what to look for as said the cambelt is the main one, I don't think it's as troublesome as the likes of the Megane 225 but worth keeping in mind.

For the Clio 200 it seems the cambelt intervals were extended to 6 years or 72k miles where as the Clio 172/182/197s had 5 years or 72k.
