I wouldn't take offense as it is so cleverly and respectfully made as you say. Am glad to hear they are raising money for the British legion too.

I don't think its untasteful at all, its based on a true story too, something I've only just discovered.

I'm quite surprised that Sainsburys came up with that. John Lewis and Waitrose yes,but Sainsburys.mJust glad it wasn't Tesco.

Quite a brilliant advert. Let's hope the full version gets shown and not a cut down version.

I've raised this in another thread, personally I'm appalled by it, maybe if Sainsburys would like to donate 50% of their entire Christmas profit I may mellow a bit.

Props to them for doing something to mark 100 years.

I can't understand why it would be un-tasteful considering it's based on true accounts.

the film itself is well made as have many before it, infact only last week the BBC broadcast the Passing Bells at 6-30pm in the evening with a younger audience in mind but like the ad a very "rose tinted" version. True you can't go showing graphic images of what it was really like, the truth was just to horrific, a reason why the majority of veterans were unwilling to recall their memories or talk about the conflict long after the war had ended.

A global supermarket chain using this theme to promote their business seems disrespectful in my eyes to all those that died on the battlefields, a view shared by many it seems. The RBL are just as wrong in my eyes too for endorsing this.
