A good friend of mine used to be our local bobby, back in the late 80s-90s. He had a list of all disqualified drivers on his beat, and regularly checked to see if any were still driving. he finally caught one once who had been driving all the way through his ban, but Nigel had never been able to catch him. He finally caught him one week before his ban expired, he got another 18 months and was warned if he was caught again he would go to jail.
I think police nowadays are too short staffed, too busy, too lazy to bother with anything like this.

His car should be taken off him, sold and banned for at a minimum 5 years and if caught again 3 years jail as should all banned drivers and also same for drink /drugged drivers even if minimum over dd limit .
I have seen the after effects of drink /drug driving and it is not nice .
The courts are way to soft in the UK.

Trouble is the CPS are spineless, as are the magistrates

Regularly watch things like Police Interceptors etc and get hacked off with the sentences served

Stolen vehicle driving at 70+ in a 30, a dozen near misses, endangering pedestrians, resisting arrest.
12 month ban and 6 month suspended sentence.

I do think our prisons being overcrowded and budget cuts plays a part in weak sentencing too.
