Peugeot 205 GTi - first project

After posting on here asking for (sound) advice on if I should take the plunge and buy a classic I’m now the proud owner of a 1989 205. Below is the advert pic

Was in really good condition but has a water leak :-/ despite this still decided to buy. Will be in the garage next week but it’s leaking from highlighted photo. Hopefully a water seal!

Drove her home 10 miles tonight and drove better than my Mams 2004 Suzuki alto!

Now all tucked up in the garage

Be a light restoration as it’s mot’d and in a good condition. Needs an immobiliser as no security at the mo, original stereo doesn’t work, some chavvy tweeter speakers stuck on the front, loose trim inside need doing. Pretty sure they may be a bit of rot that I’ll get sorted too.

Looking forward to it all!

I have fond memories of a 1.9 205 GTi that a neighbour owned.

Great car - glad to hear you went for her in the end.

Enjoy.

Andy.

One of my university friends had one back in the day - he drove it like he stole it, but boy could it handle, such a great tool darting about in the city.

Good luck

I suspect it'll have had a few alarm systems over the years, get a reputable auto elec to sort the security.

I had a 1.6 gti years ago , i miss that car great car . fyi starter motors are a problem area but a cheap fix and the dreaded sunroof leaks. All cheap fixes thankfully.
