I'm loving this thread. It's years since I saw one of these.
I'd forgotten about the red carpets. Love those

I've never heard of these shows and I go to Beverley a lot. I will have to look into that

More work on the car tonight, axle off and stripped.

Creating more work as we go along! Had to snip the brake pipes off as wldnt unscrew.

Looking at the axle if seems a second hand unit was prob put in when recommissioned in 2018/19. And didn’t last!

Cleaned up the brake covers as the lads wrestled the axle out

Axle out

And new one next to it

Once out and the hubs off it become apparent they were goosed

Stripped the bits off. All the bolts came out with the help of an induction heater loop. And skinned knuckles!

Need cleaning up in the parts washer but ran out of time.

For next week need to get ready with replacing all the bolts we’ve removed. Then refit the new one

Looking worse for wear!

I'm loving this thread. How do you even know how to do all this?

To be fair I don’t! I’m working under supervision from the body shop owner and his mechanic friend!

More work done on the car today.

Went to a bolts merchant and got new bolts, washers and nuts for the suspension.

Finished sand blasting the suspension parts and primed them then a coat of black. My spraying skills didn’t impress my mate!

Then fitted the new indicator light I bought and lined up the headlights properly. Really happy with this job. Only cost £15 too

Suspension rebuild and refit on Thursday hopefully!

Was in the garage again thurs nite. Knew it wasn’t goin to go well when the wheel hub box said Mercedes Benz on it!

They’d sent the wrong ones.

Got worse when one of the bolts was a thread to short. Managed to get it on tho and able to swap the bolts at a later date

Left the lads taking off the hub carriers as had to rearrange the living room at home for the carpet fitter the next day
